Where in yr home is the laundry? Are you lucky to have a first floor laundry room or are you a basement dweller like me? What are some of the ideas you have for the perfect DIY laundry area?
I love the idea of sorting baskets and a large utility table, basin, and ironing center in a proper laundry room. I think when you have everything in the right place then chores like laundry are the easiest.
In our old house we had two old wooden saw horses with an old formica
table top as our work station and although a bit ugly, it worked well. It is crucial to be able to really have space to tackle laundry as a family.
I have a friend who has a small radio in his laundry room so he can relax and listen to tunes while he folds and irons. Love that!
Some ideas are relatively cheap. I think the first photo would be simple to recreate with a curtain rod and a trip to IKEA for simple canvas bags. IKEA is a great source for super cheap bathroom/laundry room products like baskets, hampers, and caddies.

I love reading about DIY and home decor and everything else in between that inspires me to create my home. I like reading the nitty gritty and the lofty, but I often find that there is no in between. I love magazines like This Old House for the building ideas and helpful tips to a project. I like how they often highlight before and after to inspire us DIY followers. I also love mags like Ready Made and the way it can force my mind to think about innovative home designs. I love Domino because it makes me dizzy with ideas and interesting design motifs.
But, I would love a magazine that interviews normal folks and shows the real deal in what living for a month, year, lifetime...looks like in DY land. I love all the shots of before and after that I see, but what about the middle? I wrote this last year and it kinda sums up the DIY life for me. I would love to submit hints and tricks to readers of this imaginary magazine about how to live with kiddos in rehab land. I would love to show how messy my upstairs always looks because it is unavoidable with lack of storage. I would share the frustration and the sheer bliss there is in the renovation process as a family.
(and by the way- the house is not finished yet!)

I love the idea of DIY closet organizer like this from Elfa.

My closet is a nightmare! I want to turn it into a beauty like this!
Well, perhaps not that amazing, but it can't go on being the dump that it is.
I worked on it today a bit. I started with caulking the cracks and paint with GE Caulk singles and then have decided on a paint color. Red!

Peg board is cool! I always see lovely photos in cookbooks of chef's kitchens and the one thing that floats above the pricey Viking stoves and vastness is the functionality of most. In most chef's kitchens I see ideas that are so simple yet necessary in cooking for real. I love the idea of pot hangers and peg boards.
